This article is about the June 24–29 tournament. For the July 29–August 3 repeat tournament, see Steph Curry vs. Chris Paul and Laurie Hernandez vs. Shawn Johnson East (July 29).

Steph Curry vs. Chris Paul and Laurie Hernandez vs. Shawn Johnson East was the third tournament of the 2018 Celebrity Family Feud season, airing on June 24, 2018. The episode clashed with the last day of group stage matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, including Poland vs. Colombia, Senegal vs. Japan and England vs. Panama. It was originally planned to air on July 1, 2018, clashing with Canada Day, and the second day of knockout stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but the move of Inside the NBA vs. MLB All-Stars and Rashad Jennings vs. Team Eve forced the episode to be moved a week earlier than scheduled.

Jirayu La-ongmanee was the defending champion, but lost in the semifinals to Josef Newgarden. This was Newgarden's first Celebrity Family Feud final since MLB Legends vs. NBA Legends and NFL All-Stars vs. NFL Legends (September 17). This was the second consecutive episode the defending champion fell in the semifinals. Josef Newgarden, defeating Pee Saderd, 6–4, 6–7(2–7), 7–6(7–3). It was the first time since Kelly Clarkson vs. Amy Schumer and Bindi Irwin vs. Chrissy Metz that an IndyCar Series driver won the title. This was Newgarden's last major win until the 2019 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, where the Croatian led the most laps and won. This title was the last Feud title for Team Penske until Simon Pagenaud won Chrissy Teigen and John Legend vs. Vanderpump Rules and Ryan Lochte vs. Kevin Eubanks (June 21). This was Newgarden's last Feud title until he upset Jirayu La-ongmanee in the Maulers vs. Brawlers and Descendants 3 vs. American Housewife (July 26) final.

Originally, due to Canada Day holidays that day, James Hinchcliffe originally went to the top eight seedings, for the first time since Neil deGrasse Tyson vs. Rick Fox and Boy Band vs. Girl Group. Also, it was because of his 2018 Indy 500 qualifying failure that caused him to move to the top eight seedings. Hinchcliffe eventually earned the top eight seeding in Inside the NBA vs. MLB All-Stars and Rashad Jennings vs. Team Eve (July 1) instead.

IndyCar also uses The Mask Project A, because team IndyCar is referenced by the Insect, Wolf, or Bee Masks. It can only happen if either the Insect Mask's singer Pee Saderd or reigning champion/Wolf Mask's singer Jirayu La-ongmanee make the semifinals. However, both of them did by beating Matheus Leist and Beartic respectively. The tournament also saw one of the biggest comebacks in the show's history, with Laurie Hernandez and her family coming back from 296-0 to win the game, and looked like Shawn Johnson East voters were all winning until the Sudden Death happened and the Hernandez family got back points.

The tournament also saw almost a big upset in the fourth round, when Rashad Jennings led defending champion Kao Jirayu La-ongmanee 6–4, 5–4, before Jennings retired. Prior to Jennings' retirement, the IndyCar people were about to go backwards again to their Instagram account where they lost tons of followers from The Kardashians vs. The West Family and Inside the NBA vs. MLB All-Stars and Rashad Jennings vs. Team Eve. Rookie La-ongmanee booked his third straight quarterfinal, in only his third ever Feud tournament, the fastest since Eugenie Bouchard in the Grand Slam tournaments in 2014. Amputee Billy Monger upset Volcarona in the fourth round, to become the first amputee quarterfinalist in history. Matheus Leist, from AJ Foyt Enterprises, upset Pidgeot in the fourth round, to prevent a quarterfinal rematch between Pidgeot and La-ongmanee, referring to La-ongmanee's I Can See Your Voice Thailand appearance. Scott Dixon was upset by AJ Foyt Enterprises' Nidoking in the fourth round, making the quarterfinals to play Metagross, the best result for a Nidoking-post Hélio Castroneves era. This tournament saw the best ever result for AJ Foyt Enterprises since Takuma Sato won the 2013 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. All eight quarterfinalists were representing the countries participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Because Metagross, Nidoking and Beartic made the quarterfinals, this was the most Pokémon represented since Faith Evans vs. Ross Mathews and USA Gymnastics vs. USA Swimming.

Seeds

The seedings were announced when IndyCar participated in The Mask Singer season 4 Champ vs. Champ round 2, on June 7, 2018, the last Thursday prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It was later revealed that IndyCar qualified for the final with the Little Duck mask.

Out of those 32 countries qualified, 29 of them qualified for Inside the NBA vs. MLB All-Stars and Rashad Jennings vs. Team Eve. IndyCar announced that it used internal selection again due to the process being used all year. Due to Abomasnow's episode airing on August 22, 2018 of I Can See Your Voice Thailand, the only ones that didn't use Abomasnow's internal selection process were Vanilla Ice vs. Kim Fields and Ice-T and Coco Austin vs. Vivica A. Fox, Emmitt Smith vs. Todd Gurley II and Craig Robinson vs. Casey Wilson (September 9) and NFLPA Veterans vs. NFLPA Rookies and Wanda Sykes vs. Nia Vardalos.

James Hinchcliffe qualified in the top ten seedings for the first time since Neil deGrasse Tyson vs. Rick Fox and Boy Band vs. Girl Group, with rookie Jirayu La-ongmanee grabbing his second straight top eight seed. Simon Pagenaud, who was upset in the seeding by eventual winner Jirayu La-ongmanee in the previous episode, qualified outside the top 16 for the first time since The Kardashians vs. The West Family. In that case, Pagenaud would have been seeded 19th had it been seeded by standings. Only two Chevrolets ended up qualifying inside the top eight, with seedings 2-7 dominated by Honda engines. This was a record low for Chevrolet in the show's history. Pagenaud's no-top sixteen seeding was one of the biggest upsets in the Feud history.

Notable countries that failed to qualify included Azerbaijan, Greece which usually is present, Denmark, Italy, Iceland, Moldova, Portugal and Slovenia. Cyprus, usually who votes for Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest, qualified as well as Lithuania and Montenegro. Shockingly, Greece failed to qualify for the seedings. Azerbaijan failed to qualify, notably due to their song "X My Heart" which didn't pass the first semifinal; and didn't allow Azerbaijan in the Eurovision grand final for the first time since Azerbaijan's debut in the 2008 contest. Both of them qualified for the first time since the 2018 Sebring Open, while Montenegro couldn't pass the previous episode because Rashad Jennings was playing in the second half of that episode (the second round matches).

IndyCar gave James Hinchcliffe the second round bye because Laurie Hernandez, from his DWTS season, is playing the second half with Shawn Johnson East, from Gilles Marini's DWTS seasons. Marini, despite failing to qualify for seedings, earned a second round bye.

IndyCar moved Beartic to 7th from James Hinchcliffe's original seeding, and moved James Hinchcliffe to 9th from Beartic's original seeding.
