Sloane Stephens (born 20 March 1993) is an American tennis player. Stephens had a career-high no.3 in singles on 16 July 2018, and a career-high no.94 in doubles on 17 October 2011.

Career

Stephens has won six WTA singles titles, all coming from the North American continent. In 2017, Stephens made a long comeback to tennis after some serious foot injury that took her almost a year off tennis; and almost had no WTA ranking. She rose over 500 positions during that time. Stephens also won the 2017 US Open women's singles title, defeating Madison Keys in an all-American final (especially the final was not played by the Williams sisters). She also made the 2018 French Open ladies' singles final, losing to the then-ranked world no.1 Simona Halep. Stephens was ranked as the American no.1 in 2018.

Trivia

  • She had to undergo foot surgery in 2016 which threatened her WTA ranking.
