Olga Fatkulina (born 23 January 1990) is a Russian speed skater who specializes in the sprint distances. She won a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics, at her home in Sochi, Russia, but now it was stripped on November 24, 2017. Fatkulina also competed at the 2010 games in Vancouver, and was eligible for Turin 2006 since she was born before July 1, 1990.

Olympic Results

Fatkukina won the silver medal behind defending champion Lee Sang-Hwa in the women's 500m at home in Sochi during the 2014 edition. It was later revealed that she was stripped of her silver medal at Sochi for doping and banned for life. she came close to winning bronze in the 1000m in Sochi. Fatkulina competed at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and failed to win any medal.

Olga Fatkulina currently plays for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team as the captain for the team, and hasn't departed the team yet. Fatkulina has led Bosnia for most of the IndyCar races the team has entered. Fatkulina and Bosniahave failed to qualify for one IndyCar race, at Iowa in 2015 because of the crash.

Her team only has three wins in her IndyCar team career, in Toronto in 2014, taking off season 1 partners Germany. Her team Bosnia won at the second race at Detroit in 2015 after the end of the red flag involving fellow season 1 opponents Germany and favourites Australia. The 2015 Milwaukee Mile saw Bosnia and Herzegovina win another race, taking off Germany; who started last and did not qualify. 

Fatkulina was announced to be a season 7 contestant after Bosnia and Herzegovina's team weren't able to get out of round one of Sonoma qualifying. She decided to represent her IndyCar country of Bosnia and Herzegovina instead of Russia.


In season 8, she was part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national IndyCar team that won the first race of the 2016 Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit.

Trivia

  • She was born one day after Alize Cornet, who made surprises by playing the 2005 Roland Garros women's singles main draw at 15.
