Ecuador is a country in Southern America, with Colombia and Peru bordering the country and the country borders the Pacific Ocean to the west. The country, along with Chile, are the only two countries in south America that never share borders with Brazil.

There has been one verified supercentenarian from Ecuador. Ecuador's oldest person ever was Maria Capovilla, who died in 2006 aged 116 years, 347 days, from pneumonia, just 18 days shy of celebrating her 117th birthday. Capovilla is now the sixth oldest person as Okawa passed her.

Ecuador qualified for three FIFA World Cups, including the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The men's team first appeared at the 2002 World Cup finals in Korea/Japan. Ecuador was one of the two countries that didn't not share a border with the host nation, along with Chile. They missed the round of 16 by two points behind Switzerland with one of each, and finished 17th. The women's team qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup; and finished last in the tournament; the women's team looked like North Korea at the 2010 World Cup.

The lowest four from Brazil were in Division I, played in Guayaquil. The top four will be promoted with the other contestants. The four lowest will be playing in the lower divisions again.
