Croatia is a country in southeastern Europe. Before 1991, Croatia was part of Yugoslavia. It borders Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Hungary, and Slovenia. One of the best Croatian sporting moments include third place at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Iva Majoli's shock win over Martina Hingis in a French Open final.

Sports

Croatia's most popular sport is football. The Croatia national football team made respect by making the 2018 FIFA World Cup final, losing to the French team, and finishing third at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. They have qualified for five FIFA World Cups, including three consecutive from 1998 to 2006.

Tennis is popular in Croatia. Marin Cilic won the 2014 US Open, and made the 2017 Wimbledon final. Ana Konjuh won two Grand Slam junior titles representing Croatia. As a wildcard entrant into the 2001 Wimbledon Championships, Goran Ivanisevic won a Grand Slam.
