Ana Ivanovic (born November 6, 1987) is a Serbian retired tennis player. She won her first and only Grand Slam title at the 2008 French Open, defeating Dinara Safina in the final. The following week she climbed up to No. 1 in the rankings. The following year Ivanovic declined from inside the top 6 to outside the top 20 following results of mostly early exits.

Additionally, 2014 was a resurgent year for her. She started 2014 ranked No. 14 and ended her year ranked No. 5 by winning more than 2 WTA titles in the same year and playing the 2014 WTA Finals; this was her best season since 2008.

Ana Ivanovic was born on November 6, 1987 in Yugoslavia (which is now known as Serbia). Ivanovic started playing tennis at a young age.

Career

2005

Despite an age restriction due to her November birth, Ivanovic stunned lucky loser Melinda Czink in the final of an Australian Series tournament. Ivanovic was seeded 29 for the French Open; and made herself history by making the quarterfinals.

2016: Out of the top 60

Ana Ivanovic had an injury plagued 2016 season, finishing outside the top 60 at the end of the year; after announcing that her left wrist has been bothering her.

Ivanovic qualified for the 2016 Swiss Open - Women's Singles draw. She retired on December 28; prior to the 2017 start of the season; two weeks after she played the Swiss Open; which her retirement allows her to play BATC World Tour tournaments.
